Hello! My name is Hailee and welcome to my blog!
I’m a twenty-something new mama learning about this whole motherhood thing as I go. I want to share my stories, experiences, advice, and lessons learned with other mamas.
I am married to my best friend, Keith, and we are new parents to the happiest little guy named Isaac who is now 6 months old.
I have wanted to start a blog for a while but I could never figure out what my “niche” or passion was. I’m interested in a lot of different things. But when my little ray of sunshine came into this world in March (see his first ever photograph below), I suddenly knew what my true passion was!
Becoming a mama has taught me so much. I want to share what I’ve learned and help other mamas out there from all walks of life. I’m also hoping to share a lot of other random things such as home projects, recipes (we love to cook), health and fitness tips, and fashion advice here and there.
I’m a huge I Love Lucy fan.
My love for Lucy started when I was just a little girl. My favorite show in the world was I Love Lucy. I started watching it when I would stay up late with my dad and watch Nick at Nite (Does this still exist? I hope so.) My dad soon bought me all the VHS tapes. I would watch every episode…then start all over from the beginning again. I still watch it to this day! It’s just a feel-good show. My top five episodes are The Audition, The Kleptomaniac, Be a Pal, The Star Upstairs, and Lucy Raises Chickens. I’ve even been to I Love Lucy Live On Stage which is an amazing, live performance of an episode of the show. A visit to the Lucy-Desi Museum as well as Lucy’s birthplace and childhood home in Jamestown, NY is on my bucket list! If you ever need a partner for I Love Lucy trivia, I’m your girl. Hit me up.
I’m a huge TV fan in general.
I’m obsessed with finding new shows to watch. I love binge watching shows! I’m so happy that binge-watching is an acceptable thing now. I was binge-watching for years with my Sex and the City DVDs before it had an official name. Some of my all-time favorite shows are Dexter, Game of Thrones, The Office, Mad Men, I Love Lucy (see above), Portlandia, and Gilmore Girls.
I was born and raised in West Tennessee.
I’m from a tiny little town in West Tennesee, about an hour north of Memphis. I went to college in Memphis and I’ve stayed ever since. I really love Memphis (see my blog name), it’s home. It’s such a diverse place with tons of fun stuff to do and see. Not to mention we really know how to eat here. The food. Y’all. It’s good. The food is worth staying for. Not just BBQ, either. There are so many awesome restaurants. The craft beer scene is pretty amazing, too. Add Memphis to your places to visit list.
I love learning and research.
I’m really good at being a student and I think it’s because I’m so curious about so many different things. I love to learn! I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, an MBA, and I’m currently working on completing a Master of Science in Marketing Research. I’d love to get a Ph.D. someday, too. I work for a large corporation here in Memphis as a market researcher. I’ve always been a research nerd and I hope to provide research-based information here for you with my own personal experiences as well.
I love to bake.
I remember climbing into the cabinets and pulling down my mom’s cookbooks, along with any ingredients I could find and baking the most random things when I was young. It might not technically count as baking but one of my favorite recipes as a kid was Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Cookies. You know, the ones with oatmeal that you make on the stovetop. They’re so good! My mom always complained that I loved to cook and bake but I never cleaned up my mess. My husband Keith probably agrees with that as well. Oops. Anyway, I still love baking and I’ve gotten much better over the years. My favorite things to bake are homemade cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. I try to limit my baking in order to salvage my waistline. But I go through phases. I’m currently in a phase. A cookie phase. Help.
I’m really good at costumes.
You remember the theme parties in college, right? Well, I loved those. I love dressing up. Halloween is my favorite. Please see photo evidence below. On the left is a picture of me at a Disney theme party in college as The Brave Little Toaster. On the right is a photo of me and Keith at Halloween a few years back as Pizza Rat. Contact me for all of your creative costume idea needs.
I have an Amazon Prime addiction.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step towards recovery. I love Amazon Prime and all of the awesome perks. Two-day shipping, free shows, music, 20% off diaper subscription, and the list goes on. The fact that I can get the most random things that I need right to my door in two days (or less) gives me life. I love technology. If you don’t have Prime, go, run, now!
Thank you so much for coming over to my little corner of the internet! I would love to connect with you on social media, so be sure to say “hello” on Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook. Talk to you soon!
